This debate about the gifts of the Spirit has been going on for quite some time now. Let’s look at what the Bible teaches about this.
v.1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. (1 Corinthians 12:1)
Ignorant means not knowing.
v.4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
Diversities means variety.
v.5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
Administrations means the office of ministering in divine things.
v.6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
Operations means the results of the energy of God in the believer.
v.7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
Manifestation means exhibition, expression and bestowment.
v.8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom, to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit:
v.9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit:
v.10 To another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another divers kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.
v.11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. (1 Corinthians 12:4-11)
v.31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet I show unto you a more excellent way. (1 Corinthians 12:31)
Read 1 Corinthians 13
v. 10 But when that which is “perfect” is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
This does NOT mean that when the Bible is made that the gifts of the Spirit are done away. The gifts of the Spirit have not gone away. They are still being manifested today. The gifts of the Spirit are our weapons of warfare and should not be neglected. They give us power to overcome the enemy and that is why the devil confuses the churches about the gifts of the Spirit.
Some will say that the gifts of the Spirit have been “fulfilled”. But wait a minute, so was salvation and healing and deliverance. The gifts of the Spirit will NOT replace the Bible! The gifts of the Spirit work with the Bible NOT against it. The Holy Spirit is the author of the Bible AND the gifts of the Spirit are His gifts for the church, TODAY! The gifts are for BELIEVERS. If you don’t believe then you won’t receive the gifts of the Spirit. Why do you believe in salvation and NOT the gifts of the Spirit? Show me one verse that says the gifts of the Spirit no longer exist.
Follow after charity, and DESIRE SPIRITUAL GIFTS, but rather that ye may prophesy. (1 Corinthians 14:1)
WOW! That was AFTER the verse that many say prove that gifts are not for today. I encourage you to believe what the Bible teaches instead of following what denomination teaches.
