#1 Jacob Runs Away From Esau (Read Genesis 27:41 – 28:9 for full context.

And that Jacob obeyed his father and his mother, and was GONE to Padan-aram. (Genesis 28:7)

Jacob ran away from his brother Esau because he feared for his life. Esau was still angry over Jacob stealing the blessing. And he wanted to get back at his parents and Jacob. So he decided that he would marry pagan women who weren’t Jews. Jacob left to go find a wife and also to get away from Esau. It was important to keep the family tree by the Jews marrying other Jews. Instead of marrying those who served other gods. This was important because Jesus was to come from the descendants of Abraham. God knew that Esau wasn’t worthy to be a patriarch like Abraham and Isaac.

Today, we need to be totally dependant upon God. Always make time to be alone with God in prayer and Bible study each day. Ask God to teach you something new each day. Being a Christian isn’t as hard as some people think that it is. Put God first each day. Ask God to lead you away from temptation and deliver you from evil. Don’t believe everything you hear. Search the Bible and see if what you hear is true or not.
