Laban Pursues Jacob (Genesis 31:22-42 for full context)
And now, though thou wouldest needs be GONE, because thou sore longest after thy father’s house, yet wherefore hast thou stolen my gods? (Genesis 31:30) (King James Version)
I can understand your feeling that you must go, and your intense longing for your father’s home. But why have you stolen my gods? (Genesis 31:30) (New Living Translation)
Jacob ran away from Laban who he served for 20 years. He wanted to return to his homeland and raise his family there. Laban, Jacob’s father in law, pursued him with some of his own men. God spared Jacob and his wives, and all those who were with Jacob. Jacob had no idea that one of his wives had stolen what Laban was looking for. Which was his idols. Jacob became very angry when Laban insisted on searching their tents and found nothing.
The lesson here is that God protects His children, even when we don’t deserve it. God has a plan and a purpose for you. That is why the enemy fight’s you. Put your faith in God and live in victory.
